Taking Part in the Grantmaking Process

by Steve Snyder

Farm Aid supports family farmers and ranchers in many ways every day. We answer their calls to our 1-800-FARM-AID hotline and provide direct emergency grants when they need it most. We offer useful resources and referrals to keep farmers on the land and thriving. And we advocate for fair agricultural policies that benefit all of us. But we can’t do this critical work alone.

Since our founding in 1985, we’ve relied on the expertise and reach of partner organizations around the country – and the support of donors just like you – to make meaningful impact. In fact, we recently completed our annual grant review process and, so far this year, we’ve distributed nearly a million dollars ($971,500 to be exact!), including $154,000 in direct emergency, disaster and strategic grants and $817,500 in funding to 86 non-profit farm organizations.

I’m honored to be a part of this process and to learn about the important work these partners do. Their programs range from empowering farmers and ranchers to gain better access to markets and distribution networks, to promoting healthy soil initiatives and protecting our essential farmworkers from exploitation and unsafe working conditions through fairer labor practices. They serve all kinds of independent farmers, ranchers and farmworkers in communities large and small.

We wanted to let you know that every donation to Farm Aid has a real impact in the lives of our family farmers.

Please, if you can, consider a gift in any amount to show them just how essential we know they are.

For thirty-six years, Farm Aid has stood with family farmers to keep them on the land, growing the good food we depend on, and has advocated for fair farm policies that promote resiliency, sustainability, equity and diversity across our food system.

Farm Aid will continue to be there for our essential family farmers, and we hope you will, too.

Gratefully,

Steve Snyder
