Jesse LenatJesse Lenat is a singer/songwriter and actor residing in Brooklyn, NY. Jesse has played roots and rock driven music with his brother David (who joins him today) since they were young boys growing up on a cactus farm in Pennsylvania. In those days it was mostly ac/dc. As a songwriter Jesse now plumbs the depths of the American troubadour more in the style of Woody Guthrie. As an actor Jesse has performed throughout the country at some of the best regional theatres--The Guthrie, Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Wilma, and A.R.T. to name a few. He has made TV appearances on “Law and Order,” “Hack,” and “To Hell and Back: The Meatloaf Story,” among others. New York highlights include a role in the original off-Broadway cast of RENT, the role of Jewell in the acclaimed musical “Floyd Collins,” and a collaboration with T-Bone Burnet on the music for Sam Sheperd’s “The Tooth of Crime: Second Dance,” in which Jesse gave the world premiere of the song “Kill Zone,” which k.d. lang later recorded. Jesse also toured through Holland in the world premiere of a staged adaptation of Wim Wenders classic film “Wings of Desire,” for which Jesse provided much of the music. Jesse opened Farm Aid 2007 with his song “I’m Not The Only One” with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp standing by in support. Jesse says, “To be included in such a wonderful festival and community of people such as Farm Aid that strives to effect change in a profound and real way in the lives of struggling people is only fitting because that is one of the driving forces behind and within my music.” Sign up for our monthly newsletter to stay informed about Farm Aid's activities, the annual concert, and current food and farm issues. |
