Kenny ChesneyKenny Chesney has become one of America’s most consistent live acts by celebrating the lives, loves and laughter of fans – over a million each of the past seven summers – who come to see him. With 15 #1 country hits, Chesney has become the soundtrack of coming of age in the heartland for the 21st century. Born in Luttrell, Tennessee, he played football in high school, learning the value of tenacity. After playing for tips during his college years—and visiting Russia with a bluegrass band that included part of Allison Krauss’ Union Station—Chesney loaded up his pick-up the day the Gulf War started and moved to Nashville to pursue his dream. An eventual publishing deal with Acuff-Rose, who also published the legendary Hank Williams, paved the way to being signed by rock legend Phil Walden’s Capricorn Records. After moving to BNA, he finally found traction on country radio and earned slots opening on George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s Reunion Tour, with country supergroup Alabama and as a part of George Strait’s festival tours. Chesney’s No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems debuted at #1 on Billboard’s all-genre Top 200 Albums and a superstar who was just like his audience arrived. Since then, he’s released When The Sun Goes Down, The Road & The Radio, Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair and Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates, always seeking to capture the experience of people finding their way, coming to terms with their life and, especially, enjoying the times they can share with friends. Chesney co-produced Willie Nelson’s Moment of Forever last year. On Chesney’s upcoming release Lucky Old Sun, Willie joins Chesney for a duet of “Lucky Old Sun” and Dave Matthews joins him on the Chesney-penned “I'm Alive.” Sign up for our monthly newsletter to stay informed about Farm Aid's activities, the annual concert, and current food and farm issues. |
