Family Farmers on the Frontlines of a Changing Climate

To nurture their crops and sustain their livestock, farmers depend upon soil, water and air – the very resources most directly impacted by a changing climate. From floods and wildfires to droughts and devastating storms, family farmers find themselves on the frontlines of weather extremes which threaten not only their livelihoods, but our food supply as well.

Hope springs eternal, like soil through the hands of the hardworking farmers that nurture it to sustain us.

Family farmers who practice sustainable farming methods are a critical part of the climate solution. Regenerative agricultural practices that build soil health, recycle nutrients and water, reduce chemical use and restore biodiversity offer the greatest potential for a strong food, farm and climate future.

"The most important people are the ones who plant the seeds and care for the soil where they grow." – Willie Nelson

Since 1985, Farm Aid has worked to provide long-term strategies that strengthen family farm agriculture and to advocate for fair farm policies that promote sustainability, equity, resiliency, access and diversity across our food system. We can’t do this work alone.

Please, if you can, make a gift to Farm Aid right now so that we can continue to keep family farmers on the land and to connect them to the resources they need to address the challenges of a changing climate. Family farmers are essential stewards of our natural resources, and your support of Farm Aid is essential too.
